10 Home Remedies for Folliculitis and Best Home Treatment methods



Folliculitis treatment methods include usage of some of the top ingredients found in your home like Apple Cider Vinegar, Aloe Vera, Coconut oil, Turmeric, garlic etc. If we speak in medical terms, folliculitis is the inflammation of hair follicles that are present all over our body. This is undoubtedly one of the most embarrassing and uncomfortable problems dealing with our appearance. It can happen anywhere from the scalp to the toes, wherever there are hair follicles. Though there are many conventional allopathic medicines and ointments available for this, here are some common yet effective home remedies for folliculitis.

1. Coconut Oil
There is much beyond the known use of coconut oil. Use virgin coconut oil in the affected area. It has capric and lauric acids which have anti-microbial properties. According to the dermatologists, these are effective cure for folliculitis

2. Aloe-vera
This is the mother of all home remedies. Aloe-vera has effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Extract the gel part from the aloe vera leaf and apply to the infected area at least thrice daily for 15 minutes. It will heal your skin gently in little time.

3. Oregano Oil
This is one of the most effective remedy for folliculitis. Mix oregano oil with jojoba or tea tree oil and apply it in the infected areas. This home remedy can be carried out both topically and internally.

4. Turmeric
Turmeric is known for its amazing medicinal properties. It is rich in vitamin B and has antimicrobial as well as anti-inflammatory qualities. You can apply turmeric paste mixed with coconut oil. Alternatively, dissolve a teaspoon full of turmeric in a glass of water or milk. Drinking this magic potion twice a day will yield desired result.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar
This is the hero of all home remedies. Mix one part of apple cider vinegar and two parts lukewarm water. Soak a soft and clean cloth in this solution and use it as compress for five minutes. This compress should be gentle against your skin.

6. Witch Hazel
Soak a cotton ball in witch hazel oil and dab it on your skin of the infected areas. Repeat the procedure as much as you can. Using pure witch hazel oil is advised and highly recommended.

7. Garlic
Garlic is said to have the power to make human being immortal. It is so because garlic has antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Presence of sulfur makes it an effective home remedy for folliculitis. Since it is strong, direct application may increase skin irritation, so infuse it in oil and then apply it in affected parts.

8. Honeysuckle
This herb has cooling and anti-inflammatory properties. Boil water with the leaves of honeysuckle plant and drink it every day. It will finish the bacteria internally.

9. Neem
Neem’s medicinal properties do not need any introduction. Boil the leaves in water. Use the concentrated liquid to apply on infected skin or mix it in a bucket of water for bathing. Regular use of neem will bring desired result quickly.

10. Oatmeal
Make a pack of oatmeal and apply it topically. It will yield better result than the store bought cream with oatmeal extract.
