A home remedy that costs just a couple of bucks, under 5 minutes to do, and actually works? Sign me up! The secret is Baking Soda. It is pretty much a staple in every house hold. I’m combining it with other household essentials such as coconut oil and lemon to create a really quick and effective morning routine.
A lot of our skin care and makeup is acidic and Baking Soda is Alkaline. It works to balance out the pH levels on our skin and gently exfoliates to get rid of dead skin cells. It not only helps to rid your complexion of past acne scars, the anti-inflammatory properties help prevent future breakouts.
Mixing it with another powerhouse ingredient such as coconut oil makes it an extremely effective skin care product. I don’t need to tell you the endless benefits of coconut oil because I’m sure you know! The anti-inflammatory substance gently moisturizes your skin while preventing bacteria from reproducing. The anti-oxidant properties in coconut oil help reduce fine lines and leaves your skin feeling like, as Lils likes to say, a baby’s bum bum.
**Do a test patch before using it all over your face.
Combine 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Apply to skin and rub for 3 minutes.
Add a couple drops of peppermint essential oils to the left over mixture and use it to brush your teeth. Coconut oil fights plaque, reduces bacteria in your mouth and leaves your gums feeling healthier. The baking soda will work as a whitening agent and the peppermint essential oil leaves your breath fresher than ever.
Add the juice from half a lemon to 2 teaspoons of baking soda for whiter and brighter nails!
I hope you guys try out these easy and inexpensive home remedies. Tell me how it goes in the comments below!
