A dry cough, or a non-productive cough, is usually the result of a viral infection. Triggers that bring on a dry cough are pollution, irritants and allergens in the environment, and sometimes even a sinus infection. The back of the throat gets irritated or inflamed, leading to dryness and coughing.
There is no mucus or phlegm in a dry cough, making the thought itchy and leading to a persistent cough. This makes the body totally fatigued and compromises the immune system.
Take a glass of warm water.
Squeeze the juice of a lime and add to it.
Now add one or two teaspoon of honey.
Mix this well.
Drink this concoction a couple of times a day till the cough lasts.
Honey is a natural home remedy for a dry cough, as it soothes the irritated tissue lining at the back of the throat.
Depending on the severity of the cough, you can take a tablespoon of honey one to three times a day.
In a bowl, take 10 tablespoons of coconut milk.
Add one tablespoon of poppy seeds, or khuskhus, to the coconut milk.
Also add in one tablespoon of honey.
Mix well and take this mixture at night before going to sleep.
Soak seven almonds in warm water overnight.
Next morning, peel the skin of the almonds.
Now make a paste of the almonds by crushing them.
To this add two tablespoons of butter.
Add in two tablespoons of sugar and mix well.
You can have this paste twice a day till you get relief.
In a glass of slightly warm water, add a tsp each of turmeric or haldi.
Now stir in one tsp of carom, or ajwain powder.
Mix this well and have a couple of times a day till the cough persists.
Eat healthy and drink healthy to lead a good life.
