Lactose Intolerance:

• Inability to digest lactose, a sugar found in milk & other dairy products

Causes:

• Body is unable to produce lactase in sufficient quantity
• Infection in the small intestine

Symptoms to look for:

• Undigested lactose forms acid & gas in the large intestine

Causes:

• Stomach-ache
• Gas
• Abdominal bloating
• Nausea
• Diarrhea

Natural home remedy using ginger and lemon juice:

1. Take ½ tsp ginger juice
2. Add to it ½ tsp lemon juice
3. Add a pinch of black salt
• Give this mixture to the child ½ an hour before he/she consumes milk

Natural home remedy using pepper and asafoetida:

1. Take a pinch of long pepper (pippali)
2. Add to it a pinch of asafoetida powder (heeng)
3. Add a pinch of dry ginger powder
• Give this mixture to the child 2 times during the day.

Tips:

• Give only ½ a cup of milk at a time
• Give a bowl of yogurt after adding 1 tsp isabgol powder in it
• Ensure that you get your child correctly diagnosed
• include other calcium-rich foods such as broccoli, almonds, etc. in diet
