Tonsillitis:

• Tonsils are situated in the throat area
• The inflammation of tonsils is referred to as tonsillitis

Symptoms to look for:

• Sore throat
• Difficulty swallowing
• Frequent headaches
• Runny nose
• Vomiting
• Fever
• Fatigue
• Swelling of lymph nodes

Causes:

• Viral or bacterial infection
• Viruses that cause cold or flu
• Common in teenagers suffering from mononucleosis

Natural home remedy using ice:

• Cold compress is an effective solution. This will relieve some pain

1. Take some ice cubes
2. Wrap them in a cloth
3. Place this cloth on the tonsils for 10-15 min
4. Do this every 10-15 min for 2-3 times

Natural home remedy using milk, turmeric & black pepper:

1.Take ½ glass of hot milk
2. Add a pinch of turmeric powder
3. Add a pinch black pepper
4. Mix well
5. Give this to the child at bedtime

• This will pacify the pain

Natural home remedy using milk and turmeric:

1. Take ½ glass of lukewarm water
2. Squeeze ½ a lemon in it
3. Add a pinch of salt
4. Add 1 tbsp honey
5. Mix well
6. Let the child drink this mixture
7. Give this 2 times a day

• This lessens the pain and effect of tonsillitis

Tips:

• Make sure the child consumes sufficient water during the day to prevent dehydration
• Child should gargle with a salt water solution twice everyday
